Regina R. Smith is a graduate of The College of The Bahamas where she pursued a Bachelors of Science degree in Tourism Management. Upon graduating, Smith received a number of awards including: The Bachelor of Science Tourism Management Award; Award for Academic Excellence; and Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement & Contribution to the School. Her education and experience has given her the opportunity to attend and work at conferences in The United States and The Bahamas, including: National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD), and Travel Professionals of Color (TPOC). These conferences have not only provided her with networking and communication skills, but most of all they have strengthened leadership skills.
Smith’s experience and skill set lies in Project Management, Research and Development, and she is passionate about sustainable and environmental practices, especially in a local application to help the Bahamian economy and our people.Smith has had the privilege of working throughout many sectors of the tourism industry and has seen the benefits of trained personnel as well as individuals dedicated to exemplary customer service. She operated as a special projects and education officer at The Bahamas National Trust, in which she assisted with The Shark Campaign in the opening of the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve.
Most importantly of all, Smith has used her love for The Bahamian culture to pursue a culinary venture which she owns called Firehouse Spice Company, preparing sauces, seasonings and condiments which creates a unique twist on Bahamian cuisine. This venture was created to add innovative products to the tourism sector inclusive of sun, sand and sea. Working full time for her company and part time as an environmental consultant, Smith is using the lessons learned along the way to help her to reach her ultimate goal of owning an eco resort in The Bahamas, infusing culinary, agriculture and sustainable living.
